First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili, congratulated the people of Georgia on the country’s Independence Day.

“I wish every citizen of our country, every Georgian, to live in a happy, successful, peaceful, and victorious country.

Independence is a universal achievement and an idea around which we should all unite. This is a special day because Georgia, like many nations, fought for centuries for independence, and we are happy to have our own independent country. Each of us bears an immense responsibility to preserve our country, its independence, peace, and progress” – the First Vice Prime Minister stated.

Davitashvili noted that Georgia’s independence is a remarkable achievement, but cherishing and maintaining it is even more crucial.

“I believe that in recent years we have successfully managed to preserve our sovereignty — we have a country that is recognized today, and of course, this recognition and awareness will further grow with the successes in various areas of the country’s life” – the Minister concluded.

As Levan Davitashvili noted, over many years, against the backdrop of the challenges facing the country, we see that independence is not merely a formal declaration on paper. He assesses that it signifies sovereignty in various spheres to preserve the values embedded in independence. This includes the significant cultural values, heritage, and principles important to Georgians, which require protection and nurturing.

“Through unity, determination, and solidarity, we can not only maintain our independence but also increase Georgia’s recognition and standing on the international stage. This is the goal of each and every one of us, and we will absolutely achieve this goal step by step,” – the First Vice Prime Minister stated.

Davitashvili also emphasized that the primary task for every Georgian citizen is the restoration of territorial integrity, the unification of Georgia, the preservation and strengthening of sovereignty, prosperity, progress, and the complete eradication of poverty. “These are the paramount goals for which the Georgian government is working, and all of this will collectively strengthen our sovereignty, our national identity, and our self-awareness!” – Davitashvili remarked.

This year, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development also participated in Independence Day celebrations in several regions with interesting and diverse programs. Citizens were able to receive information about the progress made in various economic sectors.
